Help Tintilou

Jean Kabre’s extended family lives in a very rural and undeveloped part of Burkina Faso (western Africa) called Tintilou.  In his village there is no running water, electricity, or modern houses.  There is no economy, and Jean’s extended family subsists on rudimentary farming and limited livestock.  There are over 30 children (all Jean’s brothers and sisters) and 5 widows along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nephew and other relatives still living on his family’s land.  There is currently a great potential to advance this village in the future by some type of micro-commercial activity as well as providing educational resources to the children.  Please read more about Tintilou, our Sept. 6th Fundraiser, and our fundraising agenda.

Fundraising Status:

Dear Friends of Tintilou: the September 6th event for Tintilou raised over $14,000.00.  This was a great success.  Jean has already used $989.00 of the funds to buy food (rice, millet and corn) for Tintilou.

He has also used $4027.00 of the funds to pay tuition for every child to go to school this year – all 17 school-aged children (in green below).  One brother, Desire is Deaf and is attending a technical welding school.

Jean’s next initiative is to start construction of some adequate housing in Tintilou – starting with the elderly, and fund a micro-commercial enterprise in Tintilou with the investment of a grain grinder to generate some sustainable income.  We will be updating you on the progress.
